Spring Rituals to brighten up your day

So spring has arrived although it certainly doesn't feel like it today! This season brings new beginnings, growth and creation. Lighter brighter and warmer days (hopefully) and a feeling of endless possibilities.
If you feel like your daily routine or rituals could do with a little spring clean, I've got a few simple ideas that you could incorporate...
Move - use the new found spring energy to move more. That could be anything from a gentle morning walk in nature to a slightly more dynamic yoga practice. Just get your body moving after the stillness of winter and get that prana shifting.
Breathe - yes, yes, I'm well aware that breathing is always a good idea, but how often do you consciously breath? Those deep belly breaths that do you the world of good. Even if it's just for three whole breath cycles once a day, then maybe twice a day the following week. Make it a habit to check in on your breathing regularly, your nervous system will thank you for it!
Meditate - and I'm not talking about the sitting on the floor in lotus pose for half the day type meditation. Next time you're out walking don't put the ear buds in. Don't distract yourself with podcasts and audio books, as fabulous as they are. Turn your walk into a walking mediation. Making sure to focus on the details i.e. the leaves on the trees, the birds, the earth... you get the idea.
Nourish - What goes into your body shows on the outside. Spring brings with it a feeling of refresh and as the days warm up it may make making wholesome nutritious food a little more enjoyable? And don't forget to hydrate.
Gratitude - my toes curl when I hear people say they practice gratitude as it just feels so incredibly cheesy, but it works. There is a load of evidence to support the rewiring of our brains the more we practice gratitude. However you want to do it is up to you, and it might be really hard at first, but start, even just one thing you are grateful for a day, then you may find it gets easier and you have a whole list of things by the end of summer? And a freshly rewired brain and fabulous new outlook. It's a win-win!
Learn - learning about ourselves and learning new things. We are never too old to learn. Think svadhyaya, the fourth niyama from yoga philosophy and ethics. The practice of self study and reflection, to explore our own thoughts and beliefs and check that they still remain true to us. Maybe it's learning a new nutritious recipe or a hobby?
I hope you've found his list helpful? And of course there are many ways in which you can incorporate mindfulness into each day, not just the above. Let me know if you've tried some of these or share something that isn't in the list.
